Last week I learned how to make beautiful lace flowers. These can also be made with tulle, or tulle can be added behind the flower. The flower shown below is of pink lace with pink tulle behind it. In the middle is a small, painted sparkly green glass gemstone (The sparkle doesn't show up very well in the picture). I can make these into a brooch or into a barrette. A flower is $4 and a flower attached to a brooch pin or barrette is $5.
A little while back, I posted about rings I had made using the silver plated ring blanks. I had also ordered some other ring blanks, which took a little longer to arrive. These are bronze toned ring blanks that look like they have flower petals all around the center of the blank.
With these I tried two different options. The first one was a gold center. It turned out OK, but I got some of the gold glitter glue (very permanent glue) between some of the petal parts. It didn't look quite right there. The gold on the top of the ring is tiny gold colored glass seed beads on a raised red center. The outer part is done with the gold glitter glue.
The second ring came out better. In the center is a tiny green flower bead and there are even tinier green glass beads surrounding it. These are set on a raised red center.
Here are a couple of photos.
A Little Experiment
Another craft I enjoy is plastic canvas. This time I thought I'd try it with a "twist." What would it look like if the yarn was weaved in instead of sown in a cross stitch type fashion? It came out pretty neat. Here's a look!
