Dolls
These dolls were based on the idea of the "sleeping dolls." There is a very simple tutorial for these sleeping dolls here at youtube. The dolls were not hard to make, but I had a little trouble with the features. For a sleeping doll, a straight line is made for the eyes because the doll is supposed to be asleep. Well, my line didn't turn out very straight, so I made open eyes. :-) Eyes and mouth were added, and the dolls took on personality. So, I decided to add some little embellishments too -- a bow tie and a heart on one set and a bow tie and a flower on the other set. Here is what I came up with.
Teddy Bear
The second thing I tried was this teddy bear.
Mr. Teddy was a bit more challenging. He wasn't really difficult, but he was a somewhat time consuming because I hadn't many anything like him before. He didn't come out perfect. The "buttons" and tail were a little bit off center, and the left ear was a little different than the right; but he was still cute. The video below was the main one I used to make the bear. I didn't like the skinny straggly look of that bear though, so I looked at a few other videos to get some ideas of the shape of the head and body. Also looked at a teddy bear I have in my room to get the shape of the ears.
The youtube video shared below is not a tutorial that is demonstrated by someone actually making the teddy bear. It is mostly just a written pattern, but it does have pictures that help. The hardest part to understand in the video (for me anyway) was figuring out how to do the nose. Basically, they were just making an oval and then stitching a triangle onto the oval. Anyway, here is the video.
Thank you for dropping by. I hope you enjoyed your viisit. Come again soon!
