This past week the theme for crafts seemed to be "Dreaming of Spring." I was able to put the finishing touches on this "tulip candle holder." The two pieces of glass I purchased separately at a thrift store nearby. The flatter piece of glass was painted with ModPodge tinted with green food coloring and also colored with a little bit of added light green acrylic paint. The "tulip" part of the candle holder was painted with red tinted ModPodge. I used E 6000 glue to adhere the two pieces together.
Dreamy Springtime Butterfly Vase
More thoughts of spring came to mind with this dreamy springtime butterfly vase. The butterfly was made of colored ModPodge tinted with blue food coloring, with a little textile medium added. The center of the butterfly was made with yellow tinted ModPodge. Then it was spread into a candy mold to dry. I was afraid the textile medium would make the ModPodge stick to the candy mold, but it actually dried faster and seemed to come out of the mold more easily. It took about two or three days to dry completely.
To color the vase, I used ModPodge tinted with neon food coloring, with a little textile medium added. Also, I covered the vase with a light coating of indoor/outdoor craft varnish. The colors from bottom to top are green, blue, purple, yellow.
