Mightier Than the Noise of Many Waters

    Psalm 77:16-19 says, "16The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. 17The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.  18The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. 19Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known."

    And Psalm 93 says, "1The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. 2Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.  3The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. 4The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. 5Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever."

    Recently Japan experienced tremendous devastation due to a tsunami.  This link goes to a video of that tsunami.  In this video, one can see the mighty power of the sea.  Yet, the LORD on high is mightier than the mighty waves of the sea.

Free Toothpaste at Walgreens

3/28/2011

    The Lord blesses in many ways.  One of these ways is through coupons and special deals.  Often the Lord provides free toothpaste.  We cannot use all this toothpaste, but it can be shared with others.  It can be sent to Dad and Mom or given to someone who needs it here or put in the mission closet for missionaries to use when they come to our church.

    If you would like to get some of this toothpaste too, here is how we got it.

    This week Walgreens had a special deal on Colgate Total toothpaste.  It was 2 for $6.00.  However, when it is purchased a $4.00 coupon prints out to be used on your next purchase.  We got two newspapers this week.  Each of the newspapers had a $1.50 coupon for the toothpaste in the Smartsource booklet.  With these two coupons, we were able to get two tubes of toothpaste for $3.00.  Also, we got a $4.00 coupon toward our next purchase at Walgreens.  This means the toothpaste was free, and we made $1.00 on it because we got $4.00 back to use later.

New Photo E-book and Hymn Study

    Good day to you all.  There is a new photo e-book available on the Freebies page for the first week of this month.  It is an encouragement poem based on Psalm 62:8 and Psalm 77.

    And here is the next part of
    the hymn study of "God Will Take Care of You."

                 As I looked over the last post of this hymn study, I noticed that I had gone right to verse 2 of “God Will Take Care of You” and completely skipped verse 1.  But it does not seem that this was an accident.  It just seemed like the study of that particular verse was very important.  It was special to me, and something just caused me to pray earnestly as I prepared it.  I prayed that it would be a special blessing to someone who really needed it.  The Lord answered that prayer, and I give Him thanks for that.

    So now I will go back and take a look at verse 1 of “God Will Take Care of You,” written by Civilla D. Martin.  Here are the words:

    Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
    God will take care of you;
    Beneath His wings of love abide,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain
    God will take care of you,
    Through every day, over all the way;
    He will take care of you,
    God will take care of you.

    Again, the words to this verse seem so appropriate for the things that have been going on in the lives of some of the people dear to my heart, and dear to God’s heart.  Many things happen that we cannot understand.  Things happen to discourage us and cause us to be dismayed.  But the words penned by Civilla D. Martin bring this encouragement, Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you.

    The first verses that come to mind are those in the beginning of John chapter 14.  Verse 1 says, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”  Be not dismayed.  Ye believe in God.  Believe in Jesus also.  Why?  He has gone to His Father and is preparing a place there for you.  One day He is coming back to take you to live with Him there.  He says, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (verses 2,3)

                 Be not dismayed, because the trials of this time are only temporary.  Be not dismayed because Jesus is preparing something better for you.  Be not dismayed because the blessings of God are for eternity.  II Corinthians 4:17,18 encourages us, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

    With these words and with this hope, we can “set” our “affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For” we “are dead, and” our “life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall” we “also appear with him in glory.”  (See Colossians 3:2-4)

    But sometimes looking ahead to the blessings of eternity is not enough.  It gives hope, but it does not ease what is going on at the moment.  We are still troubled.  Perhaps we are worried.  Perhaps we are in pain.  Perhaps we have no direct answers to our life’s troubles.  But we can still find shelter under Jesus’ wings.  “Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you.”  We can cry out with the Psalmist, “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.” (Psalm 17:8)  And we can rest assured with the Psalmist, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91:4)

Whatever happens, whate’er betide, Jesus is right there with us.  God has promised, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)

    When it is hard to look past today, God understands.  He says, “Fear not.  I am here today.  I am holding your hand.”  God is holding us up with His right hand.  He is with us.  We are going on in His strength.  He is helping us.  God is here today.  If we cannot look to tomorrow, that is OK.  God will take care of tomorrow while we lean on His bosom today.  For, “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.” (Psalm 40:11)

    And when we are done hiding in His bosom today, God will take care of tomorrow.  And He will take care of eternity.  When our days on earth are done, we will have all eternity to spend with Jesus.  Today we can rejoice because, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”  Tomorrow we can rejoice because, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”  For eternity we can rejoice because, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”

    Never ever are we out of our Father’s care.  Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.  I and my Father are one.” (John 10:27-30)

    Now and for eternity, “God will take care of you.”  Thank You, God for that wonderful comfort.
