1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.  2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.  4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.  5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.  (Psalm 150)

I ought to praise the LORD, for He is worthy.  Praise Him in His sanctuary.  Praise Him in the firmament of His power.  Praise Him for His mighty acts.  And praise Him according to His excellent greatness.  All the glory belongs to Him.

I ought to praise Him with music - with musical instruments (8 listed in this Psalm), with my body (dance), and with my voice (breath).  With all of my being I ought to praise the LORD!

Of More Value than Many Sparrows

O give thanks unto Him “Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever.”  (Psalm 136:23)  Jesus told His disciples, “Ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (See Matthew 10:31)

Recently on BBN there was a story about a little girl and a baby robin.  The father and mother robin had nested in their yard like they did every spring.  The little girl would excitedly watch the baby robins grow and mature and fly away.  But one year there was a baby robin that did not learn to fly.  Something was wrong with its wing.  The little girl prayed and prayed for God to fix the robin’s wing.

All through the summer father and mother robin cared for baby.  Baby robin grew, and, because it could not fly, it became quite tame.  The little girl could just go right up to it, and the robin was not afraid.  Soon fall came.  It was time for father and mother robin to fly south.  The little girl’s daddy took her for a walk in the woods.  He explained to her that baby robin would die.  Father and Mother robin must fly south.  He could kill baby robin so it would be over quickly, and the young bird would not starve to death or freeze in the winter cold.  The little girl pleaded with her daddy to wait just two more days, and he agreed.

This little girl and her friend took a box and put breathing holes in it and plenty of food for baby robin.  Then they collected all their money, just enough to ship the baby bird south to Georgia.  The tame bird was easy to catch, and soon they had it snug in its new home.  However, when they looked at the bird the next morning, it was already dead.  Generally baby robins will not eat in captivity, and so they die.

The little girl was heartbroken, but her mother comforted her gently by saying that God cared for little robin.  He made the birds, and he loved them.  In Matthew 10:29, Jesus said that one sparrow “shall not fall on the ground without your Father.”

If God cares so much for tiny little birds, does He not care much more for us?  Oh, yes!  He loves us much more than this little girl could possibly have loved the baby robin.  Jesus says, “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:30,31)

Dusting Tip

Did you ever try to dust the living room furniture, only to have the dust fly up in the air and land back on your surfaces again?  That flying dust can not only be a nuisance by keeping your coffee table from looking shiny; it might also be a problem if you breath any of it in.  Dust up the nose usually results in "Achoo!  Achoo!"  But there is a simple remedy.  Spray your duster with a mist of water or all-purpose cleaner (that does NOT contain bleach) so that the duster is slightly moist.  The dust adheres to the duster and doesn't fly away.  The duster does become black more quickly, but you can clean it by washing it in warm water.  Then hang it on the clothesline or on a nail to dry.
